LogLogic Inc. has tethered its log management capabilities to EMC Corp.s Smarts Technology, enabling organizations to bolster their internal log discovery and log administration processes to help simplify and streamline overworked risk management and compliance efforts.

In addition to joining EMCs Smarts Technology Alliance Program this week, LogLogic, based in San Jose, Calif., went a step further.

The company announced that its LogLogic automated log data and reporting software could be used in tandem with EMC Smarts to access, categorize and retrieve all log data regardless of where it resides within the IT enterprise.

Following last years heightened awareness of information-management government regulations such as the Sarbanes-Oxley Act of 2002, HIPAA (Health Information Portability and Accountability Act), Gramm-Leach Bliley, Basel II, and the Patriot Act, customers in early 2006 are still feeling the pinch to get their systems and data ready for potential audits and scrutiny from regulatory forces.

By using EMC Smarts, LogLogic customers can determine how targeted infrastructure issues may impact service levels and related IT architecture.

Smarts, acquired by EMC, based in Hopkinton, Mass., for $206 million just over one year ago, offers software featuring an information model and correlation engine which highlights network elements supporting corresponding applications, services and customers.
