SAP, Intel Forge Xeon-Powered All-in-One Servers
SAP and Intel are knitting together their software and hardware, announcing Xeon-run servers rigged up with SAP software for midmarket companies in manufacturing, service and trade.
The Intel-SAP offering, which SAP announced at CeBIT on March 4, will include SAP's Business All-in-One business management software and servers running on Intel's Xeon processors. The offering will include a variety of hardware running Novell's SUSE Linux Enterprise and SAP's MaxDB relational database management system.
The product, aimed at midmarket customers, which SAP defines as 2,500 users or less, will help companies reduce costs, reduce time to deployment and drive adoption of integrated business solutions, said Hans-Peter Klaey, president of global SME (small and midsize enterprises) at SAP.
