Enterprise Applications: Windows Server 2008 R2`s New IIS 7.5 Offers Management Improvements
Windows Server 2008 R2's New IIS 7.5 Offers Management Improvements
Web Server Role
As always, Windows Server 2008 R2 administrators can add IIS functionality by adding the Web Server role to their server. Despite the fact that this screen references IIS 7.0, the version supplied with Server 2008 R2 is IIS 7.5.
Administrators comfortable with Windows PowerShell now have multiple new ways to configure, deploy, manage and schedule tasks within IIS 7.5.
Rather than having to edit configuration files, IIS 7.5 administrators now have a management console interface for boosting the security of their Web server through request filters.
A new configuration editor in IIS Manager makes it easy to quickly view and edit configuration files.
Improved FTP Capabilities
Improved FTP capabilities have been built in throughout IIS 7.5.
FTP management is now done side-by-side with Web server management, making it easy to configure and integrate Web and FTP servers.
