Verizon Broadband/HP Netbook Bundle Shows Promise but Needs Refinement

Mobile Broadband Bundle

Verizon offers its mobile broadband service bundled with the HP Mini 1000 1151NR.

Powering On

The mobile radio must be powered on from the VZAccess Manager.

Try, Try Again

Occasionally, multiple attempts must be made to power on the mobile radio especially in low bar areas.

Connect to WWAN

Once the mobile broadband network is found, the user clicks on Connect WWAN at lower right to enable the service.

Statistics Tab

The Statistics tab in the VZAccess manager shows speeds that can burst up to 1.4 megabits per second.

No Bars

Note that I have no bars for VZAccess, and this is 35 miles north of Boston in a densely populated area.

Text Message

A handy tool is the Text Message tab in the VZAccess Manager.
