Welcome, to this weeks hard drive price watch. This week, sees the same sluggish activity on hard drive products in various capacity ranges. While prices for most products remain unchanged, there are but a few listed products that faced big price differentials.
Prices in the 20-30GB capacity range remained steady, with only four of the products registering price differentials from previous spot prices. At the highest spot price CMSs 30GB Auto Backup System PC Card External Hard Drive at $277.65, down by a few dollars from its previous spot price of $285.75. The lowest spot price was occupied by Western Digitals Caviar 20GB EIDE Ultra-ATA/100 at the unchanged spot price of $55.
A similar pattern was evident in the 40GB range as well. Most prices remained unchanged and price differentials existed only for two products. At the highest spot price was CMS/s ABSplus 40GB (USB 2.0, 7200 RPM) at $232.50, down by a few dollars from its previous spot price of $239.55. The lowest spot price was occupied by both Western Digital and Maxtor at $65.
The highest amount of activity this week, seemed to be in the 60GB capacity range. Price differentials between previous and current spot prices varied by only a few dollars. The highest spot price was occupied by IBMs Travelstar 60GB Ultra ATA/100 at an unchanged spot price of $329. Occupying the lowest spot price was Seagates 60GB EIDE Ultra-ATA/100 9.5MS 7200RPM Barracuda at $74.80, down from its previous spot price of $87.29.
For the 120GB capacity range, product prices remained mostly unchanged. The few price differentials were in the range of a couple of dollars. The highest spot price in this capacity range was occupied by Western Digitals 120GB External Firewire 7200 RPM at an unchanged spot price of $228. The lowest spot price was occupied by Western Digitals Caviar 128GB EIDE Ultra ATA/100, 7200RPM at $118, down only slightly from its last spot price of $119.95.
