Lexmarks Clinical Assistant Targets Health Care Industry
Administrative health care workers are constantly bombarded with prescription orders, patient insurance and identification information, not to mention the pressure to attend to patient needs as soon as possible.
Lexmarks Clinical Assistant allows users to print up to 50 pages per minute and scans up to 600 by 600 dots per image in black and white and 600 by 300 in color. It also offers fax capabilities as well as security and data encryption functionalities.
"Clinical Assistant is designed to make it easy for health care professionals to increase their productivity through multifunction technology that comes already customized with industry-specific applications to help improve their current business processes," Emily Rardin, spokesperson for Lexmark, told eWEEK.
Clinical Assistant features an eTask touchscreen interface, which provides medical staffs with four icons that will enable them to send out important medical documents and access important patient information, manage and view orders online, scan patient insurance and identification online as well as access and print important medical forms.
With the Scan to EMR (electronic medical records) icon, users should be able to scan and route documents to network destinations while also allowing users to retrieve important patient information. Medical staff members can place Clinical Assistant in nursing stations so that they are able to scan important patient updates and enter the information in a timely manner.
"The Clinical Assistant allows health care professionals to take advantage of more efficient and reliable processes such as electronic medical records and order routing, which helps to reduce the risk of medical errors and increase patient safety," Rardin said.
Clinical assistant also includes an icon that allows health care professionals to scan and print each side of a patient insurance and identification card onto a single piece of paper, saving time as well as paper.
The new platform designed for health care professionals also features an icon that will enable a medical staff to access and print important medical forms.
The health care platform from Lexmark uses an icon that hopes to provide medical staffs with a way to send out physician orders and separate urgent and normal orders via an icon.
Clinical Assistant will also support Lexmarks Queue & View platform, a server-based application that enables pharmacists to view and manage orders online.
The Clinical Assistant will be available for an estimated street price of $3,699 on April 24 through Lexmarks channel partners.
