Verizon Customers to Get AOL Perks
As of August 1, customers with Web-enabled phones now will have access to AOL mail and other AOL content, such as MapQuest directions and Moviefone showtimes. Customers must be AOL members in order to have AOL mail.
Later this year, Verizon Wireless, of Bedminster, N.J., plans to offer AOL Instant Messenger service for its Mobile Web customers, joining such companies as Sprint PCS, AT&T Wireless, Voicestream Wireless, Nextel and T-Mobile, all of which offer wireless IM service to their subscribers. Customers need not be AOL members to get IM service.
Mobile Web services cost $6.95 per month, in addition to airtime charges.
