dtSearch Offers High-End Capabilities

With all the popular and free search tools in the news lately, one would think that a product from a commercial company without the name recognition of a Google or a Yahoo would be a tough sell.

And for products that vie for general users, this is often so. But dtSearchs namesake ware has been more about high-end search capabilities for serious researchers. Because of this, it still competes well against more-hyped and free options. Also, the dtSearch 6.5 product line, released in January, still has solid options for companies, including the surprisingly good dtSearch Web product that lets them add detailed search capabilities to their sites and intranets.

Most new features in dtSearch 6.5 focus on faster content indexing, especially mail-based content, and improved document conversions. We liked a text-filtering feature that allowed retrieval of partially corrupted text content. dtSearch Web costs $999 for a single server. Check out www.dtsearch.com.
