Web 2.0, SOA, and Web Services: Facebook Revamps Profile Pages to Highlight Photos, Tell People's Stories
Facebook Revamps Profile Pages to Highlight Photos, Tell People's Stories
by Clint Boulton

Facebook has made several changes to its social network design in the last 12 months, upgrading news feeds and improving photo upload speed and functionality. Today's profile redesign marks the first time in awhile in which Facebook has altered those pages. Let's run through the changes picture by picture.

Introduce Yourself
Here is the new profile people summary.

Photo Reel
Next comes a sort of highlight reel of photos. These include most recently tagged photos of users. People who are not allowed to see a user's tagged photos will see photos from the members' profile picture collection.

Navigation
Facebook also improves navigation in the profile page, allowing users to move around on the Website more easily. Users may also highlight the friends who are important to them.

Share More Info
Click the edit link to add more info about yourself.

Interest
Facebook really, really wants users to add more info about themselves, which is why it features an edit link atop every section.

Tour
Once done with the tour, Facebook encourages users to add and update their profile info. Boosting the profile content will improve connections, the social network believes.

A New Look
Here's our new profile after taking the tour.
