A charitable foundation started by Microsoft Chairman and Chief Software Architect Bill Gates and his wife, Melinda, last week donated $15 million to the Computer History Museum.
The gift was the largest in the history of the museum and is part of its current effort to raise $125 million. The money from the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation will be used to create a Timeline of Computing History exhibit, match donations from other donors and expand the museums endowment.
The exhibit will trace the 800-year evolution of human computing, museum officials said, and will be dedicated to Gates and his wife.
