Emerson Unveils New Express Version of Trellis DCIM
Data center infrastructure management is complicated enough as it is, so the more automated features it has and the simpler it is to use, the better for all concerned.
Emerson Network Power and its software division, Avocent, have continued to refine their 3-year-old home-grown platform, Trellis, a hardware and software package that one simply plugs in, connects automatically to all the necessary nodes and puts to work. The Trellis platform provides users with a holistic, real-time view of the data center across facilities and IT resources.
In its continuing effort to make DCIM easier to use, Emerson on Nov. 21 released the Trellis Platform Express Edition, an entry-level, turnkey platform that is an even more simplified delivery model of the software.
Express Edition is a bundled offering of existing Trellis platform functionality that is preconfigured to customer requirements and can scale up as data center needs grow. For small and medium-sized businesses, the Trellis Express addresses the need to order and deploy a DCIM solution that is right-sized for the enterprise.
For large enterprise data centers, Express is designed to address immediate needs while reducing time to implement.
Trellis Express comprises two offerings. The first is Trellis Facility Manager Express, a bundled package of the current Trellis Site Manager, Avocent Universal Management Gateway and professional services to handle installation and training. This bundle has two options: one for tracking and monitoring up to 10 floor-mounted devices (FMDs), and one for tracking and monitoring up to 25 FMDs.
The second, Trellis Inventory Express, bundles the current Trellis Inventory Manager with professional services, and can come with a host server.
