Researchers at AVAST Software have listed the most infected Websites on the Internet.

The security company's first "America's Most Wanted" roster features a number of sites with a common theme - pop culture. In particular, sites about games, celebrities, anime, and television- and movie-related domains were among May's worst offenders.

Here are some of the entries from the list:

Actionfigurecustoms.com AllCelebsFree.com

AnimeBreaker.com

AnimeFuel.com

Anime-Vids.com

CoachHandbagOutlet.net FindACeleb.com

Galacticflashgames.com Gamefactoryinteractive.com Games9x.com

Flashgames247.com TimBurtonCollective.com

During May, AVAST found the number of visits to individual infected sites jumped by 52 percent, with each site receiving an average 89 visitors. That's an increase from the previous level of 59 in April. At the same time, the number of reported infected domains dropped by over 30 percent to 396,679 in May.

"This is bad news for the general public as it means there are more infections at high profile, legitimate sites with a high visit rate," said Ondrej Vlcek, chief technology officer at AVAST, in a statement. "Sites are targeted just because they are commonly visited. This is true for pop culture sites, especially ones that focus on celebrities and celebrity gossip."
