LAS VEGAS--Inside a dark neon-lit room at the Mandalay Bay Hotel here sits the nerve center for one of the most hostile technology environments on the planet, the Black Hat USA security conference. The Network Operations Center (NOC) is where Black Hat manages and monitors the network, providing access and mitigating potential threats.
In a video tour with eWEEK, James Cabe, technology evangelist at security vendor Fortinet, details what's inside the Black Hat USA 2015 NOC and why whiteboards and markers co-exist with some of the most powerful security technology in the market.
Multiple vendors co-exist in the Black Hat NOC, including Fortinet, Ruckus and Splunk, to provide the technology needed for the security conference's networking needs. Splunk provides its tools for visualization and analytics, Ruckus provides the public WiFi, and Fortinet's Fortigate 1500 next-generation firewall helps to tie it all together.
