Delivered as a subscription service, ProSOC Express works with customers’ existing systems, including firewalls, anti-virus software, and servers.
Proficio, a provider of cloud-based security services, introduced ProSOC Express, providing small- to medium-size businesses (SMBs) with 24x7 enterprise-class security monitoring and alerting services.
ProSOC Express is offered as a software as a service (SaaS) by subscription and includes the same security information and event management (SIEM )technology and 24x7 monitoring as Proficio provides its enterprise customers.
The company’s cloud-based solutions help defend enterprise networks and applications from cyber-attacks and protect compliance for utilities, health providers and corporations.
"New security tools can require some tuning to ensure that they do not generate too many alerts or false positives," Tim McElwee, chief operating officer and chairman of Proficio, told eWEEK.
"One advantage of a cloud-based service is it avoids integration issues that are associated with adding appliances to the network or installing software."
He explained ProSOC Express collects security events and analyzes them in the cloud, and customers do not have to purchase any hardware or software. Proficio's team is particularly skilled at finding the right balance between providing too much information or not enough, he noted.
ProSOC Express works with customers’ existing systems, including firewalls, anti-virus software, and servers.
"Businesses do not have internal IT experts on staff and want to be users of information not security administrators," McElwee said. "It is important that users receive understandable advice and can contact an expert for clarification."
ProSOC Express includes 24x7 security monitoring and threat detection and real time analysis and correlation of security events using cloud-based HP ArcSight SIEM technology.
Other features include around-the-clock security alerts and escalation for critical events requiring action; availability of security experts to address users’ questions, and a threat intelligence and reputation service.
Rounding out the package are 12 months of log storage to meet compliance requirements, user-friendly weekly reports that summarize activity, and a 30-day money-back guarantee.
The company also noted customers can try ProSOC Express for as little as $99 per month per device, and a bundle of 15 devices is available for $9,950 per year.
ProSOC Express is also offered with a health care bundle that includes HIPAA reporting; a firewall package that includes a fully-managed Palo Alto Networks Next-Generation Firewall, and the ProSOC Express PCI package, which includes ProSCAN Vulnerability Scanning and PCI Assessment powered by QualysGuard.
"Small- and mid-sized businesses are increasingly under cyber-attack and many have experienced significant losses due to ransomware, bank fraud, and identity theft," McElwee said. "Many organizations have invested in firewalls and UTMs plus other security software, but do not have the time to monitor and investigate the alerts from these devices, a major gap. It became clear to us the SMBs need the same advanced technology and 24x7 monitoring as bigger companies expect."
