Inside or out, on the desk or on the road, there are dozens of storage options every year at the International Consumer Electronics Show (CES), and OEMs are constantly upgrading and improving their storage drives to meet consumer demand for dashboard-performance monitoring and energy-saving features—particularly for notebooks and tablet devices. This year's crop of storage drives sets new standards for size, capacity and speed across a range of form factors, from SanDisk's ultra-thin solid-state drive (SSD) built for tablets to Netgear's desktop models powered with ReadyCloud technology, which lets users access their files from anywhere. Digital camera company Canon also entered the storage market this year with a device designed for photo and video needs: the Connect Station CS100, which features near- field communication (NFC) technology, among other innovative features. Many of these devices also boast eye-catching designs—a feature that is becoming more important to image-conscious consumers with every passing year.
