- LSI Logic Announces New SAS-Based ICs
LSI Logic of Milpitas, Calif., has introduced two versions of its new 3GB/sec SAS (Serial Attached SCSI). The LSISASx28 is a 28-port expander IC (Integrated Circuit), while the FLSISASx36 is a 36-port version.
The new SAS-based ICs, which support 1.5 and 3GB/sec SAS and SATA (Serial ATA) data transfer rates per port, use an ARM processor to provide a host of SAS functions. The products also employ physical layer-based zoning for network security applications and several initiator functions, such as self-discovery and self-configuration. The ports are also non-denominational, with initiator or Target connect, offer port-independent auto-negotiation, and support up to 1025 SAS addresses.
