Samsung Electronics last week introduced several color, monochrome and multifunction printers. First up were the CLN-500 and CLN-550N color lasers, which print five pages per minute in color and 21 ppm in monochrome at 1,200 dots per inch. The 550 costs $800; the 550N, priced at $900, includes 128MB of memory and a 10/100BaseTX Ethernet card, as well as USB 2.0 and parallel interfaces.
The company also unveiled a low-end monochrome laser printer for $150. The ML-1740, which replaces the ML-1710, prints 17 ppm at 600-dpi resolution. For small businesses, Samsung introduced two multifunction machines: the SF-565P and SF-565. The $300 SF-565P combines a fax machine, copier, scanner and laser printer. The SF-565 includes all the scanning, faxing and copying capabilities of the SF-565P but does not include a printer.
Meanwhile, Xerox unveiled two monochrome multifunction machines for small and midsize businesses and workgroups.
The WorkCentre M20, priced at $1,649, allows copying, printing and color scanning. The $2,199 WorkCentre M20i adds support for Ethernet, scan-to-e-mail and color-faxing capabilities. The M20 can be network-configured for an additional cost.
