The Wireless Communications Solutions Division of ARC Wireless Solutions is introducing the new Freedom Antenna designed to offer cellular phone users a stronger, more durable signal.
The Freedom Antenna is a portable personal antenna with broadband capability that provides clearer reception for cell phones and other wireless devices by extending the range, company officials said.
It offers high performance in a slim package for both fixed and mobile hands-free use in vehicles, offices, homes and is ideal for travel, officials said.
“It really helps to reduce dropped calls,” said product manager Joshua Stewart, adding the antennas signal strength can help users avoid dead spots. In addition, as a side benefit of a stronger signal, the antenna increases the life of cell phone batteries because the phones do not have to work as hard, he said.
According to ARC, the all-in-one product is compatible with more than 200 types of cell phones, including the top 10 selling cell phones in the United States.
Unlike the older version of the Freedom Antenna, this one also comes with an adapter so users do not have to search for the right one, Stewart said. Included with the purchase of the antenna will be a stand, suction cups for window mounting and adapter cables.
“It works with all major carriers,” Stewart said. “Its not technology-dependent.”
He added that the company is currently in talks with some major consumer electronic retailers, but the new Freedom Antenna is expected to be widely available in the first quarter of 2007.
It is already available online through the companys network of VARs, he said, adding that customers can find those VARs on the Web site of ARCs Wireless Communications Solutions Division.
