In one of Microsofts periodic “Executive E-Mail” blasts to customers, Microsoft Chairman Bill Gates outlined on Wednesday the companys security progress to date.
In the latest e-mail note, Gates told customers Microsoft is focusing its security push on four areas: isolation and resiliency; updating; quality; and authentication and access control.
Gates reiterated Microsofts plans to beef up security in its operating systems via Windows XP Service Pack 2, due out mid-year; and Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, due by the end of calendar 2004. He also highlighted Microsofts forthcoming Internet Security and Acceleration Server (ISA) 2004 firewall and Exchange Edge Services products as ones which will shore up further Microsoft customers security levels.
