Office products and services retailer Office Depot has announced a deal with DriveSavers Data Recovery to offer professional data recovery services to its customers nationwide.
In the event that a storage drive — such as a computer hard drive, USB drive or media card — fails, and critical data is lost, Office Depot customers now have a place to take it to try to get the data back onto a usable drive.
According to a recent study by Rubicon Consulting, a majority of small and midsize businesses surveyed expressed concern about data loss because many SMBs continue to rely on manual backup strategies that leave their data vulnerable to human error, security breaches, theft or natural disasters. As a result, about half of the SMBs surveyed admitted to experiencing significant rates of data loss.
In addition, one-quarter of midsize companies report that losing access to data for even one day would cause permanent business loss.

Office Depot has 1,604 worldwide retail stores and a $4.6 billion e-commerce operation. The retailer has annual sales of approximately $14.5 billion and employs about 42,000 associates around the world.
