Which company name do you think is an easier one to remember and more relevant to the storage business: i365 or EVault?
Right you are. i365 thought the exact same thing and rebranded itself back to EVault, the name it had when parent company Seagate paid $185 million for it to become its cloud-storage arm. That was exactly five years ago, on Dec. 21, 2006.
So, beginning Dec. 21, 2011, the company officially changed its name back to EVault, a Seagate Company. Since most people won’t add the Seagate part when talking about the company, EVault is letting everybody just call it EVault.
EVault’s frontline Endpoint Protection software automates the chore of PC backup and recovery in as many enterprise machines as needed. All data is backed up to the EVault Cloud. EVault supplies data protection software, appliances, software as a service (SaaS) and managed services to more than 35,000 enterprises and small and midsize businesses.
The Emeryville, Calif.-based company currently manages 63PB of data. About half of its new customers in the past 12 months were cloud-connected hybrid deployments, which EVault said illustrates how quickly the market is embracing this new approach to backup and recovery.
This is more evidence of the emergence of cloud systems in enterprise IT–especially hybrid private-public ones.
