ActiveState, a provider of tools and platform as a service (PaaS) solutions for a variety of programming languages, has announced its new Stackato Partner Program.
The program pairs ActiveState’s PaaS technology, Stackato, with infrastructure technologies and services. The first group of partners in the new Stackato Partner ecosystem includes cloud infrastructure provider Cloudscaling, cloud-development services provider Cloud Technology Partners and cloud IT services provider BestIT.
Under terms of their respective Stackato partnerships, OpenStack infrastructure providers Cloudscaling and Cloud Technology Partners will endorse Stackato as a component in integrated technology solution delivery. IT services firm BestIT will resell Stackato PaaS technology.

Phoenix-based managed IT services provider BestIT plans to leverage its new relationship with ActiveState to enable their customers to elevate their software and integrate it with new technologies. “Today’s enterprise demands efficiency from its cloud, and PaaS technology helps realize that efficiency,” Shannon Blood, BestIT’s director of marketing, said in a statement. “We see tremendous value in partnering with ActiveState to deliver integrated cloud solutions to our mutual customers.”
With the launch of the Stackato Partner Program, ActiveState is collaborating with two recognized leaders in the OpenStack community in Cloudscaling and Cloud Technology Partners, Copeland said. These partnerships, along with the recent announcement of ActiveState’s OEM partnership with HP, underscore Stackato’s growing market dominance for enterprise private cloud deployments.
San Francisco-based Cloudscaling offers scalable, production-grade solutions for elastic cloud infrastructure powered by OpenStack. “Our enterprise customers expect the same capabilities and performance they’re accustomed to on a public cloud, but with an on-premise solution,” Randy Bias, Cloudscaling CTO and co-founder, said in a statement. “Stackato enables Cloudscaling to offer an even broader, integrated solution deployable in the customer’s data center and under the IT team’s control.”
Cloud Technology Partners provides enterprises with consulting, implementation and technology services to plan and execute the migration of business processes, applications and data to cloud computing models. “Stackato from ActiveState delivers on the promise of enterprise PaaS, and it aligns with our core principle for minimizing vendor lock-in because it can be deployed on any cloud infrastructure—public or private,” said John Treadway, vice president of Cloud Technology Partners. “Stackato complements our rapidly growing OpenStack infrastructure practice, and is a supported PaaS offering within our SpeedPaaS governance and migration estimation solution.”
