Backup and data protection solutions specialist Intronis announced the ECHOplatform built for IT service providers, a cloud backup and data recovery solution supporting a variety of in-demand services, plug-ins and extensions such as server and laptop imaging, VMware and Hyper-V and SQL and Exchange backup.

The platform is available exclusively to channel partners at a flat, monthly cost for unlimited cloud and local storage. The new pricing model, called the Intronis U2 Plan, removes storage limits and makes it easier for channel partners to deliver customizable services using the platform.

“Having the flexibility to simply, securely and cost effectively address a customer’s unique data protection needs creates a substantial business opportunity for channel partners who are serious about success and want to scale their services from data backup to complete business recovery,” Chuck DeLouis, vice president of product management for Intronis, said in a statement. “ECHOplatform gives channel partners the technology, services and support needed to deliver complete data protection and bolster their revenues and profits.”

Aimed at managed service providers (MSPs) and value-added resellers (VARs), the platform allows channel partners to standardize, customize and scale their storage solution to fit the needs of the customer without adding additional costs.

In addition, the platform features an open application programming interface (API), integration with professional service automation (PSA) and remote monitoring and management (RMM) tools and technologies, and a management portal that provides a single pane of glass view of all account activity.

The platform will also eventually support bare metal restore (BMR) and file sync and share, the company noted.

“By removing the variability of storage-based pricing, Intronis is providing me with greater flexibility in how I price backup to my customers,” said Larry Phelps, vice president of sales at Solbrekk Business Technology Solutions, an IT service provider and Intronis partner. “Now I can maximize both the data protection services I provide my customers and the profit potential for my business.”

According to the company’s recent survey on cloud-based data issues, one of the top reasons businesses and IT professionals cannot restore data after a loss occurs is because the data was not properly backed up to begin with.

“We are declaring the end of the legacy ‘per gigabyte’ pricing models that have long been the norm in our industry,” Rick Faulk, CEO of Intronis, said in a statement. “In today’s rapidly evolving market, it no longer makes sense for our partners to be forced to justify the price of their services ‘by the gig.’ Moving forward, our partners will be able to focus on delivering valuable data protection services with a predictable monthly cost. This will generate a massive transformation in how our partners go to market, and create more opportunity to grow their revenues and profits.”
