Oracle Corp. on Tuesday announced the formation of its Supplier Advisory Board, a body created to help improve supplier relationship management processes in line with evolving business requirements.

Oracle, of Redwood Shores, Calif., is targeting development of its procurement applications to include input and direction from leading suppliers across multiple industries. At the same time, Oracle is working with its customers to further improve supplier relationships and increase their return on investment, officials said.

The board will create a collaborative environment where members work with Oracle to develop more effective procurement applications that include both buyer and supplier perspectives. The SAB will act as a communication channel between members and Oracles development team to map supplier processes and influence product direction for SRM applications, officials said.

Currently, Oracle Procurement, which is part of the companys E-Business Suite, automates the steps of the procure-to-pay business flow and facilitates supplier collaboration and sourcing capabilities. Within that suite are several applications, including iProcurement, Purchasing, Sourcing, iSupplier Portal, Purchasing Intelligence and Payables.

The SAB members include about a dozen companies across a range of industries: Boise Office Solutions, Dell Computer Corp., W.W. Grainger Inc., Hewlett-Packard Co., Kelly Services Inc., McCormick & Company Inc., Newark Electronics, Relief Printing, SHI, Software Plus, Software Spectrum, Staples Inc., Toshiba Corp, Trodat Marking Products Inc. and Wallace Computer Services Inc.
