Even though our government is spending training dollars to turn people into Oracle DBAs, the truth is that there are zero jobs for DBAs with zero years of experience. “Entry level” in the case of the job market for Oracle DBAs typically means three to five years of experience, and an IT certificate from a training program or community college means just about nothing. A better route to becoming a DBA is to gain experience in entry-level IT fields such as Windows administration, help desk and software testing—spots from which moves into database administration are possible.
