Borland Software announced enhancements to its Silk line of integrated testing and quality management products.
Brad Johnson, director of product management for life cycle products at Borland, said Borlands LQM (Lifecycle Quality Management) solution is “one of the four key segments” of the companys recently announced Open ALM (application lifecycle management) strategy, which focuses on supporting other vendors technology.

With the enhancements to its Silk line, Borland is hoping to help its customers streamline manual testing processes and extend performance test management and automated functional testing to the latest development environments. Borland got the Silk tools in its acquisition of Segue Software last February.
Borland SilkCentral Test Manager features a new, Eclipse-based testing capability that streamlines the manual testing process and automatically captures results in a centralized console. The test manager also features a new “test-to-code” impact analysis capability.
Borland SilkPerformer has new JMX (Java Management Extensions) monitoring to improve diagnostics of Java server performance and features new support for the Eclipse IDE (integrated development environment).
In addition, Borland SilkTest now supports Microsoft Windows Vista. It delivers user interface testing for Microsoft Windows Vista and Windows XP 64-Bit operating systems, as well as Internet Explorer 7 and .Net, providing customers with the ability to build, test and deliver applications leveraging these new and popular environments, Johnson said.
