Leaving behind a career spanning more than 30 years of service at IBM, Janet Perna is retiring next month as general manager of data management solutions for the IBM Software Group.

Perna will hand over her duties, which include responsibility for overseeing IBMs DB2 Universal Database and Information Management product portfolio, to Ambuj Goyal, general manager of workplace, portal and collaboration software for IBMs Software Group, according to IBM officials.

During her tenure at IBM, Perna has run several businesses that IBMs Software Group has acquired, including Ascential Software, Venetica, Systems Research Development, Alphablox, Informix, Green Pasture Software and CrossAccess.

In addition to Pernas departure, other management shifts are on tap for the company. The management roster for IBM Global Services has been changed to include Mike Daniels, Ginni Rometty and Bob Moffat. Moffat will be in charge of IGS and will report directly to IBM Chairman and CEO Samuel Palmisano.
