The SOA Consortium, a group of vendors and other organizations aimed at promoting the use of service-oriented architecture, is continuing to grow, with 31 new members joining since May 1.
The additions bring the total number of participants to more than 50 in the less than six months since the group started.
The SOA Consortium, based in Needham, Mass., is an advocacy group of end users, service providers and technology vendors committed to helping the Global 1000 successfully adopt SOA by 2010. Founding sponsors are BEA Systems, Cisco Systems, IBM and SAP.

New SOA Consortium members include Bunge Agribusiness, Cambridge Technology Enterprises, Capability Measurement, Cape Clear Software, the Center for Public-Private Enterprises, CGI Federal, eCube Systems, EDS, Evans Data, Fidelity Investments, Forestay, Helm Solutions Group, Hitachi Consulting, iWay Software, Make Technologies, Penn National Insurance, PricewaterhouseCoopers, SAIC, Schlumberger Technology, SDG, Sonoa Systems, and ZapThink.
According to SOA Consortium officials, the group is focusing on “business-driven SOA,” exchanging insights on preparing their business and IT organizations for SOA, influencing technology vendors and service providers on ways to derive business value from SOA, and working with standards-organizations on standards related to SOA.
“The SOA Consortiums core mission of advocacy is clearly being heard by the industry as evidenced by our rapid growth in membership,” Richard Mark Soley, executive director of SOA Consortium, said in a prepared statement.
The next meeting of the SOA Consortium is set for Sept. 26-27 in Jacksonville, Fla.
