Ardence is adding Linux support to its software offering that streams operating systems and applications from the network to end-user devices.

The Ardence Software-Streaming Platform already supported Microsofts Windows. With Version 3.5, it now can stream Linux distributions from Red Hats and Novells respective SUSE Linux units.

Streaming operating systems and applications is becoming an increasingly popular way of getting the software to end-user devices, such as desktops and thin clients, without having to preinstall them onto servers and PCs.

Other new features in Version 3.5, which was launched last week, include being able to stream the software and dynamically provisioning devices from a single management console.
