Business Objects SA on Monday announced a new version of its analytic framework, incorporating predictive analytics for the first time. Separately, the Paris-based company, with North American headquarters in San Jose, Calif., announced three new modules for its Supply Chain Intelligence analytic application.

The new version of the analytic framework, known as the Business Objects Application Foundation 3.0, adds analytic engines for predictive analytics and statistical process control. KXEN Inc. is providing the technology for the predictive analysis engine.

The new analytic engines allow users to predict the outcome of their business decisions and to monitor business processes over time, particularly those related to enterprise quality management initiatives such as total quality management and Six Sigma, Business Objects officials said.

Both analytic engines present their results via a dashboard interface. Application Foundation 3.0, which is the application development framework that all Business Objects analytic applications are built on, also includes additional personalization options and an enhanced workflow engine to show different views of key performance indicators.

The new version of Supply Chain Intelligence announced Monday adds modules for Plan, Make and Return. Plan Analytics is used to help balance supply with demand, monitoring asset utilization and inventory levels.

The Make Analytics module allows businesses to analyze the manufacturing process to improve efficiency, identifying unplanned downtime, quality issues and poor scheduling, while the Return Analytics module analyzes and monitors returned products, such as reasons for return, value of returned products and cost to dispose.

These modules are added to existing modules for procurement and delivery of products.

Both the Application Foundation 3.0 and the expanded Supply Chain Intelligence will be available by the end of the month. Pricing starts at $225,000 for the Application Foundation, plus an additional $50,000 for the quality measurement control chart option, and $95,000 per module for Supply Chain Intelligence.
