Starting next month, Google will launch an early-adopter program for Google Apps customers interested in the company’s new Inbox for Work application. The goal of the effort is to try and understand business needs, challenges and use cases for Inbox according to a blog post by Alex Gawley, Google’s director of product management for Inbox.
Gawley urged companies interested in participating in the early adopter program to contact Google at inboxforwork@google.com. A review of the more than 300 comments posted on the blog in response to the announcement suggests that many business users are impatient to get their hands on Inbox.

FireEye’s Mandiant division came out on Feb. 24 with its M-Trends 2015 report, revealing the current state of breach discovery on the IT landscape. Among the top-level findings in the report was that the median number of days before a breach was discovered in 2014 was down from previous years.
In 2014, that number was 205 days, down from 229 days in 2013 and 243 days in 2012, according to FireEye. How enterprises actually find out about breaches was another key finding. In 2014, only 31 percent of breaches were detected internally by enterprises, down from 33 percent in 2013.
ARM and IBM are partnering on a starter kit designed to make it easier for organizations and individuals to build connected devices for the Internet of things. The ARM mbed IoT Starter Kit-Ethernet Edition will include a development board created by Freescale and ARM’s mbed IoT operating system, which will be connected to IBM’s Bluemix cloud platform to offer such services as cloud-based analytics as well as mobile and application resources from Big Blue.
