VeriSign Inc. and IBM on Monday announced a set of security services designed to deliver access management and authentication technology, mainly to small and medium-sized businesses.

The new offering comprises two services: the VeriSign Access Management Service and the IBM-VeriSign Trusted e-Business Integration Solution.

The former is a fully managed service, hosted by VeriSign, that will give customers access control and authorization. The service is based on IBMs Tivoli Access Manager and provides administrators with a Web-based console for management tasks.

The new service also includes a single sign-on feature for users and is integrated with VeriSigns identity verification, PKI and validation services.

Kontiki Inc., a Sunnyvale, Calif., vendor of secure media delivery software and solutions, plans to use the VeriSign AMS to deliver its solutions.

These announcements are the first fruit of a partnership IBM, of Armonk, N.Y., and VeriSign, of Mountain View, Calif., announced earlier this year. The companies unveiled the new solutions at the Gartner Symposium IT Expo in Orlando, Fla.

The new integration solution is built on Access Manager and VeriSigns Authentication Services and is designed for users of IBMs WebSphere MQ. It includes authentication, encryption, digital signing and access control.

Both services are available immediately.
