Microsoft Corp. Tuesday announced the release of a technology preview of the next version of its free toolkit for developers building Web services, Microsoft Web Services Enhancements 2.0.
WSE 2.0 features new security features for helping developers build more secure Web services that transcend enterprise boundaries to exchange information with customers and partners, the company said.
In fact, WSE 2.0 builds on the security, routing and attachment capabilities of WSE 1.0, yet it adds support for additional specifications such as WS-Security, WS-Policy, WS-SecurityPolicy, WS-Trust, WS-SecureConversation and WS-Addressing, company officials said.
WSE 2.0 includes new features such as a token issuing framework; roles-base authorization and integration with Windows security; a declarative programming model; and a message-based object model, the company said. The toolkit features support for both synchronous and asynchronous communications and can work with transport mechanisms such as TCP and HTTP, Microsoft said.
The technology is available for download on the Microsoft Developer Network (MSDN) site.
