Oracle on Thursday announced it has wrapped up the acquisition of G-Log, aka Global Logistics Technologies, a logistics and transportation management software developer that Oracle announced it was buying in September.
G-Logs software allows users to plan, optimize, execute and analyze supply chains. Users can also chart and execute logistics planning—a process still conducted, in many cases, on a white board.
Oracle Corp. foresaw the acquisition as a way to boost its capability to provide a more comprehensive supply chain management and logistics suite of products.
“With the acquisition of G-Log, customers will now have access to proven best-in-class transportation and logistics capabilities combined with comprehensive, world-class capabilities in ERP [enterprise resource planning] applications and technology infrastructure—all from the same vendor,” said Oracle Senior Vice President of Application Development Rick Jewell, in a statement.
“This is expected to significantly reduce total cost of ownership while increasing customers ability to operate an integrated, information-driven enterprise,” he said.
The statement also quoted G-Log customers who gave a thumbs-up to the deal.
“Exel has enjoyed a long and successful relationship with G-Log, who [has] provided technology to support the demanding needs of our global logistics business,” said Martin Neil, head of Supply Chain Solutions; Global Information Technology Solutions; Automotive Worldwide, at Exel.
“Oracles acquisition of G-Log signals the companys commitment to the Logistics Service Providers and Transportation software market, and we welcome the increased resources and global organization that Oracle brings to the table,” Neil said in the statement.
“We look forward to working closely with Oracle in driving their transportation solutions.”
