PeopleSoft Inc. is delivering on a promise to ease application integration headaches of enterprises that deploy the companys software in combination with applications developed by SAP AG and Oracle Corp.
The Pleasanton, Calif., company will roll out the first phase of the integration plan this week in its PeopleSoft CRM 8.8 Productivity Release, which includes six new process integration packs. These provide pre-built integration between PeopleSofts customer relationship management offering and the order management, service request materials authorization and field fulfillment systems of SAP and Oracle.
PeopleSoft plans to introduce similar process integration packs for its PeopleSoft HCM (Human Capital Management), Supplier Relationship Management and Enterprise Service Automation modules, officials said.
The new Infosync Server in PeopleSoft CRM 8.8 supports bidirectional, server-to-server synchronization with IBMs Lotus Domino and Microsoft Corp.s Exchange servers. Previously, PeopleSoft CRM supported only client-side integration with Lotus Notes and Microsoft Outlook clients.
The new synchronization support reduces downtime and improves efficiency through faster integration of customer contact information stored on e-mail servers with customer information stored in PeopleSoft CRM applications.
Separately, PeopleSoft last week introduced its WPS (Workforce Performance Solution) suite, which integrates components of its HCM applications. The suite ties together the elements of organizational development by combining PeopleSofts Enterprise Portal and Human Resources Management System Portal Pack, Enterprise Learning Management, eDevelopment and some components of its HR application.
PeopleSoft user Tom Hyatt, vice president of technology at the Maryland Institute College of Art, in Baltimore, said he was looking to enable the staff and faculty to track various HR components, such as the status of their health plan, number of deductions and benefits plan.
“We certainly thought the direction was good [for PeopleSoft to move in with WPS], and the functionality was something we really needed,” Hyatt said.
