Midmarket companies using SSA Global Technologies enterprise resource planning and other software may have it a little easier with integration issues.
IBM and SSA Global Technologies Inc. on Monday will announce an alliance in which SSA will standardize all of its applications on IBMs middleware—including the namesake WebSphere Portal, WebSphere Business Integration, WebSphere Application Server—and Big Blues DB2 Universal Database.
The applications from Chicago-based SSA Global that will run on IBMs middleware stack include those for enterprise resource planning [ERP], corporate performance management [CPM], customer relationship management [CRM], product lifecycle management [PLM], supplier relationship management [SCM] and supplier relationship management [SRM].
The two companies also will work together on providing outside services for consulting and implementation, as well as on jointly marketing the combined products, officials said.
IBM, of Armonk, N.Y., and SSA are no strangers to one another. The two have thousands of customers in common, officials said.
Other midmarket ERP software developers that have their applications standardized on IBMs WebSphere line include J.D. Edwards & Co., acquired last summer by PeopleSoft Inc. Baan, acquired by SSA in July 2003, is also standardizing on IBM.
