Blue Titan Software Inc. on Monday released two versions of its new Web services software, which the company claims delivers “origin-to-edge” performance.

The new software features a computing architecture that allows applications and data to be shared and combined in what Blue Titan calls a Web services networking infrastructure, said Frank Martinez, chief technology officer and co-founder of the San Francisco company.

Martinez said Blue Titans software provides networking capabilities that IT organizations require.

The softwares two versions consist of the Blue Titan Network Director and the Blue Titan Server Suite.

The Blue Titan Network Director builds a “virtualization layer” between applications that consume Web services and the systems that are exposed as Web services, Martinez said. The virtualization layer provides provisioning, security, access control, queuing, performance management and visibility for communication between applications.

The Blue Titan Server Suite helps users manage Web services. Users can use this suite as a stand-alone deployment and management solution for application developers, the company said.

Martinez said Web services require “application-level networking solutions” of the type that Blue Titan delivers.

Sam Boonin, vice president of marketing, said Blue Titans software bridges loosely coupled Web services with mission-critical computing. Boonin said the companys initial customers include financial services institutions, telecommunications companies, and transportation and logistics companies, among other enterprises.

Specific customers include Ford Motor Co., PriceWaterhouseCoopers, Goldman Sachs, Lehman Brothers and RoTech Medical Corp.

RoTech Medical, an early user of the Blue Titan Network Director, has deployed the technology in its Web services efforts, according to the Orlando, Fla., company.
