Art Technology Group Inc. announced a changing of the guard on Thursday, naming former Digital Equipment Corp. executive Robert Burke as its new president and CEO while announcing co-founder and Chief Strategy Officer Jeet Singhs departure from the company.

Burke replaces Paul Shorthose, who will remain chairman of the Cambridge, Mass., companys board of directors. Shorthose had led ATG since October 2001.

Most recently, Burke was CEO of London-based CRM services company Quidnunc. He also had been president of ePresence Solutions after heading up Digitals systems integration business.

“We selected Bob because of his proven track record in driving sales and executing long-term growth strategies,” said Shorthose, in a statement.

Shorthose said now was an “ideal time” to bring in Burke to lead the company as it looks to drive its sagging revenues after getting its expense sheet under control.

“During my tenure as CEO, we succeeded in stabilizing revenue, reducing expenses and launching major new product initiatives—all while delivering five consecutive quarters of meeting or exceeding our financial results guidance,” Shorthose said.

Singh, meanwhile, is leaving the company to pursue personal interests, according to a company press release. He founded the company in 1991 with Joe Chung. Chung, ATGs former chief technology officer, remains on the companys board of directors.

“Given the solid team that we now have in place, it is time for me to step aside and transition my board seat to Bob,” said Singh. “We have found the right long-term leader for the company, and I am confident that Bob has the experience and the vision to succeed.”
