BEA Systems Inc. next week will release the next version of its application server, BEA WebLogic Server 7.0.

The latest version includes new features for easing development and enhancing performance, management, Web services support and security over previous versions, the San Jose, Calif., company said.

BEA WebLogic Server 7.0 includes the BEA WebLogic Builder, a utility that enables developers to create and deploy applications in a visual environment. The new release also features a utility called EJBGen, which helps developers rapidly create Enterprise Java Beans.

The new release also features new tools supporting Web services, and automatically exposes applications as Web services with no additional coding, the company said.

In addition, BEA WebLogic 7.0 has new security and caching features and management enhancement to help administrators manage and configure clusters, code and content updates.
