eBay Buys Property

Online auction king eBay is staking a real estate claim by acquiring HomesDirect.com. HomesDirect, which came out of Net incubator Idealab, auctions foreclosed property from the Veterans Administration and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Hammer Falling

In another sign of consolidation in the online auction space, DoveBid of Foster City, Calif., has agreed to acquire rival TradeOut of Valhalla, N.Y., for an undisclosed sum. Both companies deal in industrial auctions, with TradeOut specializing in the commercial transportation sector. Customers include GE Capital Fleet Services and Transport International Pool.

Vitria Fires Up E2open

Enterprise application integration software company Vitria Technology says it has successfully implemented its technology on E2open, an Internet marketplace serving the electronics industry. Vitrias software, to be available to marketplace participants, will be used to integrate companies enterprise applications with E2opens trading platform, as well as in collaboration projects.
