FileNet Corp. has expanded is enterprise content management offerings with the acquisition of electronic forms software developer Shana Corp., announced Wednesday.
The all-cash deal is valued at $8.5 million.
Shana, based in Edmonton, Alberta, had already been a FileNet partner, jointly offering an integrated e-forms solution. That integration is expected to become even tighter now, according to FileNet officials, with support ranging from general forms management and delivery to more complex content- and process-centric uses.
FileNet Chairman and CEO Lee Roberts said in a statement that the addition of Shanas technology would enable FileNet to offer the industrys most comprehensive solution for the design, deployment, management and processing of e-forms.
“Acquiring Shana is a natural extension for FileNet as we continue to expand our offerings to help our customers streamline and accelerate business decisions,” Roberts said, in Costa Mesa, Calif.
Shanas technical development team will form the core of FileNets Canada-based development center and will support further FileNet product development, as well as customer support of FileNets eForms offering, FileNet officials said.
In a related announcement Wednesday, PureEdge Solutions Inc. announced that it has formed a partnership with IBM Corp. to integrate its XML forms-based business process management software with IBMs DB2 Content Manager and other infrastructure products, forming a solution that PureEdge and IBM will co-market to North American enterprises and government agencies. The integrated offering will be available in June.
