The company named John Goldsberry CFO, replacing Rod Sherwood, who retired earlier this year. Goldsberry, who had been senior vice president of operations and customer care, came to Gateway when the company bought eMachines last year.

Bruce Riggs, a former executive with Dell and Quanta Computer, was named to replace Goldsberry.

Gateway officials said that they will select the location of the new manufacturing facility next quarter. The site will build configure-to-order desktops, notebooks and servers. It will employ about 300 people in the first year and could grow after that.
