Enterprise resource planning software developer J.D. Edwards & Co. announced plans Friday to eliminate some of its senior management positions in an effort to respond to market conditions.

Hank Bonde, the companys chief operating officer, has been eliminated from the employee roster under a plan to more closely align sales and development operations.

“We want to make sure that our organizational structure was as nimble as we could possibly make it,” said Chairman and CEO Bob Dutkowsky in a press release.

JDE, of Denver, Colo., is hoping that the development team will be able to serve customers better by working more closely with the sales employees.

As a result of the management shift, the companys chief financial officer, American and international sales, the CIO, the vice president of customer relations, the chief technology officer, human resources, marketing, and product management will all report directly to Dutkowsky.

The goal is to more tightly align sales, services, marketing, product engineering and software engineering.

Dutkowsky insisted that the moves were not driven by financial results.

Bonde will remain in his position until Dec. 31.
