The Computex show in Taiwan next week will showcase Intels “Grantsdale” and “Alderwood” chipsets, just a few weeks before their official launch.

Computex, scheduled to run June 1 through June 5, has been scheduled about three weeks in advance of the Grantsdale launch, which industry sources have said is scheduled for June 21. Although Intel has not discussed the specifications of the Grantsdale chipset in detail, company executives described the Alderwood as a “rocket sled” at the Intel Developer Forum earlier this year.

“Grantsdale and Alderwood should be high profile at Computex. It will be front-of-the-booth stuff, not back room,” said Howard High, a spokesman for Intel.

One of the features of both chipsets will be the integrated wireless access point, which will give PCs the ability to communicate with WiFi-enabled devices. Intel has said previously, however, that the company will turn off the wireless features within Grantsdale by default, for security purposes.
