Intellisync Corp. has introduced a suite of products for wireless carriers looking to offer a single solution to enterprises, smaller businesses and individual professionals.

Based on the San Jose, Calif., companys existing remote access software for enterprise customers, Intellisync Mobile Suite uses technology acquired when Intellisyncs predecessor, Pumatech Inc., bought Synchrologic Inc. last September.

The software lets operators offer wireless data services that include push-based e-mail, basic calendar information and file access for devices that run Microsoft Corp.s Windows, Windows Mobile and Tablet PC platforms; PalmSource Inc.s Palm OS; and Symbian Ltd.s Symbian OS.

The suites range of deployment models includes Individual Monitor, a small PC client for individual customers that pushes Microsoft Outlook and IBM Lotus Notes information to mobile devices and supports two-way synchronization, and Workgroup Monitor, a similar client with the added capability of managing groups of users from any PC in the office.

Also included are Hosted Enterprise, a server-based, application service provider model in which a carrier can host multiple companies from a single hosted server; Hosted POP/IMAP, remote e-mail access for individuals with Post Office Protocol or IMAP e-mail accounts; and Behind-the-Firewall, a more traditional option that puts the server behind the customers firewall.

Carriers are expected to start offering the service within six months, Intellisync officials said.

JP Mobile Inc. has similar plans. Officials said a major Global System for Mobile Communications wireless carrier plans to ship the Dallas companys remote access software with several handsets within the next few months.

Meanwhile, JP Mobile last month announced that its SureWave Enterprise Server software soon will support Novell Inc.s GroupWise platform.

Currently, the wireless middleware platform supports Microsoft Exchange and Lotus Notes. GroupWise is decidedly less popular than Notes or Exchange, but officials at JP Mobile said there has been significant customer demand for GroupWise support, especially in government, legal and educational institutions.

GroupWise tends not to be as susceptible to viruses as its competitors, said Dayakar Puskoor, CEO of JP Mobile. For organizations that use multiple groupware platforms, the SureWave software can support GroupWise, Notes and Exchange simultaneously, Puskoor said.

SureWave for GroupWise will be generally available early this quarter.
