Research In Motion Ltd. unveiled two new BlackBerry models designed primarily for customers in Europe.

The BlackBerry 6210 and 6220, which RIM debuted at this weeks CeBIT show in Hannover, Germany, are smaller and lighter but sport more memory than previous BlackBerrys, according to officials at the Waterloo, Ontario, company. The new models each weigh about 4.8 ounces and include 16MB of flash memory plus 2MB of SRAM.

Both support the traditional wireless e-mail functions of a BlackBerry, in addition to phone functions, a browser, Short Message Service and Java downloads. Both have an integrated address book and inbox that serve all e-mail, voice and SMS applications, meaning a user can click on an e-mail address, telephone number or URL within an e-mail message to automatically invoke a new e-mail message, call the telephone number or connect to the URL.

The BlackBerry 6210 is a world band handheld that operates on 900/1900 MHz GSM/GPRS (Global System for Mobility/General Packet Radio Service) wireless networks in North America, Europe, Asia Pacific and Latin America. The BlackBerry 6220 is a dual band handheld that operates on 900/1800 MHz GSM/GPRS wireless networks, which are in Europe and Asia only. ´
