Sony Ericsson Mobile Communications on Feb. 6 announced a slew of options for customers who want their corporate e-mail pushed to their P990 smart phones.

“The P990 … is a sophisticated device that gets us to the point where mobile executives can really start to minimize on the number of devices and paperwork they carry around with them,” said Jan Wäreby, corporate executive vice president and head of sales and marketing at Sony Ericsson, in a statement. “The push e-mail capability especially helps to bring true business mobility, and we have deployed technology and formed partnerships to ensure that mobile e-mail and Web browsing access is provided in a safe, secure and fast environment.”

The P990 will be able to communicate with Research In Motions BlackBerry Enterprise server, as well as mobile e-mail servers from Visto, Altexia, iAnywhere Solutions, Intellisync, Seven Networks and Microsofts ActiveSync Exchange software.

The companys upcoming M600 phone, due to ship in the second quarter of 2006, will support these platforms, too, officials said.

Sony Ericsson also announced a partnership with anti-virus software maker McAfee to offer McAfee VirusScan and Firewall Mobile on the P990. The software scans e-mail messages, attachments and Web downloads.
