MPC Computers last week rolled out two rack-optimized servers armed with Intels latest Xeon processors, which offer 32- and 64-bit capabilities.

The 1U (1.75-inch) NetFrame 1720 and 2U (3.5-inch) 2720 are powered by two Xeons that offer Intels EM64T technology and an 800MHz front-side bus. The systems include Intels E7520 chip set with support for PCI Express, which offers more than three times the bandwidth of current PCI slots, and faster DDR2 (double data rate 2) memory. The systems can be configured with only PCI Express expansion slots or with both PCI Express and PCI-X slots on the same motherboard.
