China's New Humanoid Robot Isn't Showing Off—It's Built to Stay on the Job

China's humanoid robot makers are no longer trying to impress audiences—they're trying to prove their robots can work full shifts.

Robotics company AGIBOT unveiled the A3 Ultra at the World Artificial Intelligence Conference (WAIC) 2026 in Shanghai, positioning the full-size humanoid robot for factory, commercial, and service work. Alongside it, the company introduced three additional robotics platforms aimed at industrial automation and research.

The launch reflects a broader shift among Chinese robotics firms toward proving their robots can operate reliably in real-world environments, where businesses care more about productivity and deployment than flashy stunts.

The A3 Ultra stands 5.7 feet (1.74 meters) tall, weighs about 132 pounds (60 kilograms), and features 51 degrees of freedom that allow humanlike movement. According to AGIBOT, each arm can carry up to 11 pounds (5 kilograms), while its dual-battery system provides up to eight hours of operating time depending on the workload.

The robot combines 3D LiDAR, RGB-D cameras, fisheye cameras, binocular vision and positioning technologies, including GPS, RTK and UWB, to navigate complex environments. It also supports direct charging, battery swapping and autonomous charging while its AI processing is powered by NVIDIA's Thor platform.

Alongside the A3 Ultra, AGIBOT introduced the X2 Edu humanoid development platform for education and research, the G2 Max industrial robot for material handling and palletizing, and the OmniHand 3 Ultra-M dexterous robotic hand for precision manipulation.

Moving beyond controlled demos

AGIBOT used WAIC to highlight deployments that extend beyond exhibition halls. The company said its G2 robots are operating on a tablet production quality inspection line at Longcheer Technology's manufacturing facility in Nanchang. 

According to AGIBOT, the production line was integrated within 36 hours and now processes about 3,000 units per shift. The company added that the robots have accumulated more than 64 hours of continuous operation while keeping downtime below 4%.

Beyond manufacturing, AGIBOT said its robots are also being tested in tourism, transportation and customer service roles, where they assist with visitor guidance, navigation and information services. AGIBOT also deployed more than 30 robots across WAIC venues to support attendees throughout the event.

The company argues that consistent performance matters more than isolated demonstrations.

"The industry should no longer judge embodied AI by whether a robot can complete an impressive demonstration once, but by whether it can be manufactured, delivered and integrated reliably into real operating environments," said Peng Zhihui, co-founder, president and CTO of AGIBOT.

He added that the company's latest products reflect its goal of building robots that "can deliver consistent and practical value at scale."

What this signals for the robotics market

The A3 Ultra's specifications are impressive, but the bigger story is the industry's changing priorities. Instead of emphasizing acrobatic robot demonstrations, companies like AGIBOT are increasingly showcasing uptime, factory integration, and continuous operation—metrics businesses use when deciding whether automation is worth the investment.

That said, many of the performance claims, including operating endurance and deployment results, come from AGIBOT itself. Broader adoption will likely depend on whether customers can replicate those results in everyday production environments and justify the cost of deploying humanoid robots at scale.
