Boosted by new revenue streams from its recent acquisitions, Documentum Inc. enjoyed healthy top-line growth in the fourth quarter of 2002.

The Pleasanton, Calif., ECM (enterprise content management) software developer saw revenues climb to $66 million in the quarter, up from $50.7 million in the same period a year ago as Documentum booked revenue from three companies it acquired during the year—Boxcar Software, TrueArc Corp. and eRoom Technology Inc. eRoom in fact added $4.2 million of revenue to Documentum after the acquisition closed during the fourth quarter.

License revenue was up year-to-year from $24.8 million to $36 million. Acquisition-related charges of $5.2 million did, however, give Documentum a $1.1 million loss in the quarter, down from $1.6 million in the year-ago period.

Interwoven Inc. did not fare as well on either the revenue or income fronts. Total fourth-quarter revenues fell from $44.5 million to $31.1 million year-to-year, including a fall-off in license revenue from $22.3 million to $14 million. The Sunnyvale, Calif., company saw its losses increase as well, from $27.3 million to $32.4 million.

Also in the ECM space, Optika Inc. enjoyed a slight growth in fourth-quarter revenues, from $4.6 million to $4.9 million year-to-year, though license revenues were off slightly, from $1.9 million to $1.7 million.

The Colorado Springs, Colo., company remained profitable, though its net income fell year-to-year from $244,000 to $34,000.
